Saving money on everyday items seems like a no brainer but let me tell you, the amount of stuff we buy for convenience’ sake that is easily made, may actually stagger you.

Here are ten categories of easily (and cheaply) made items that will start saving you Big dollars at the grocery store.

5.  Cleaning Products.

I use quite a few of the recipes shown here from Keeperofthehome. This is an amazing site for all things homemaking and natural living.

6.  BREAD! The cost of baking 2 loaves with store bought flour currently averages $1.60 – that’s $0.80c a loaf. Now compare that to a regular store bought loaf at $3.49 and up… We have previously purchased bread on sale for $1.00 but it wasn’t anywhere near as good.

Check out these brilliant bread recipes courtesy of Emma Christensen at Kitchn (www.thekitchn.com)

 7.  Jams and sauces

Of Course here at “Casa De making cents” we make all of our own jams and pizza / pasta / Alfredo sauces, etc. Canning is another of my hobbies 🙂 and here is where we combine two categories in one:-

8.  Gifts
